It’s so good to meet you

My name is Zara Dureno. I am a licensed Occupational Therapist and a Neuro-coach. I am extremely passionate about all things brain health and I have a strong skill set in chronic pain, chronic fatigue, long COVID, mental health and concussion.

I hold a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of British Columbia and an Honours degree in Psychology (with a clinical focus on neuroscience) from the University of Windsor. My approach is rooted in evidence-based, patient-centered care, infused with compassion and a dedication to empowering my clients. Building strong, trusting relationships is at the core of my practice, ensuring every individual feels heard, supported, and confident in their recovery journey. I want to instill hope in you and let you know I will be there every step of the way!

When working with clients, I use a wide variety of modalities tailored to the individual’s needs. I have training and experience in nervous system regulation, Polyvagal Theory, CBT, ACT, IFS, DBT, brain retraining, mindfulness, somatics, clinical hypnotherapy and self-compassion modalities. I believe that giving you practical tools combined with a deep understanding of your condition helps you to regain function and get back to doing what you love.

I’ve had the privilege of presenting on chronic pain to national organizations, educating thousands of healthcare practitioners, and collaborating with provincial leaders to provide resources for ME/CFS and long COVID communities.

I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia in my early 20s. Since then, I have made a full recovery. Because of this, I am extremely passionate to share the steps of recovery with as many people as possible as I believe no one has to suffer. We can all regain function and lessen symptoms. My lived experience with the conditions I treat gives me a unique perspective and a deep commitment to offering the best care possible.

When I’m not working with clients, you’ll likely find me exploring the mountains, playing music, baking cookies, meditating, gardening, creating art, or volunteering.

Let’s work together to help you reclaim the life you want to live.

Zara is the first therapist I have worked with that really helped me put the pieces together again. From navigating challenges in my daily life living with a chronic illness to empowering me with practical tips and useful tools to propel me forward again. I came to her based on her excellent credentials as an MOT but her ability to truly see me and hold space for me to feel heard and understood was exactly what I needed. 10/10 recommend!“ -GT (Client)

What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational Therapy (OT) goes far beyond helping people with jobs or work! While we do assist individuals in returning to work or school, OT is about so much more. The term “occupation” refers to any meaningful activity that occupies your time—whether that’s work, school, leisure, or self-care.

Occupational Therapists use these meaningful activities as tools for therapy. We are experts in improving function, offering practical strategies, and providing concrete solutions to help you manage symptoms and get back to doing what you love.

If you’re in British Columbia, Canada, I’m licensed to provide Occupational Therapy services directly. For those outside of BC, my coaching services are available to support your goals.

I would love to chat with you!
